The Library

This page has been configured as the home page. You can change the title. You can design the content area of the page (where these words and pictures are) to look however you want it to. Once you have the template installed on your own website you will have to write your own pages, but you can come back to this site to see how you can set things up.

Getting an image centered is sometimes difficult,
but for our purposes it is not always essential.

The news, notes and other postings (the typical “blog” content is on the “News/Updated” page. Typically these are shown on the front page of a blog, but this has been modified to make this home page more static. You can edit this (i.e. put the posts back on the front page such as we have on the Wilmington site) in the “Reading” area of the “Settings” tab, located in the upper right of the admin area.

You can also edit or delete the subtitle of the site (”The ___ Template Modified for a Starter Library Site”) by editing the “Tagline” field in the “General Settings” tab of the “Settings” area. The “Blog Title” field is where you would put the name of the site itself, such as “Wilmington E. M. Cooper Memorial Public Library”

Specific Details About This Theme

  • This theme is Cutline. In the themes folder it has been modified and given the title LIBR Cutline.
  • There is 1 sidebar.
  • The header picture is designed to generate a random image from a certain folder every time a page loads or is refreshed.  You can put as many images as you want in the folder as long as they are sized properly (896×163 pixels) and named correctly to get in the queue for display.  There are currently 5 images.  Go to the top of the page and hit your refresh button to see how it works.
  • The header menu has been edited quite a bit.  Any item with long titles spill over onto a new line, and result in different lengths to the vertical white bars between tabs.   I will work on fixing this, but if it bother you do not chose this theme because I cannot promise it will be fixed.
